Spots, zits or pimples — whatever you choose to call them, they all come under the heading of Acne vulgaris, a common skin condition affecting up to 85% of people, mostly teenagers. For most people it’s a passing problem, but for others it can be severe and ongoing and result in scarring. Sometimes the problems associated with acne can be more than skin deep — embarrassment because of the skin’s appearance can result in emotional or psychological issues such as a lack of selfconfidence, anxiety, and depression.
Acne vulgaris is one of the most common skin disorders encountered by patients. Despite not being a life threatening disease, acne can seriously impact an affected person's life. The good news is that it is treatable — even, to some extent, the severe scarring. Enjoy learning.
